The Mississippi Maternal Mortality Review Committee (MMRC) was established in July of 2017 following passage of House Bill 494, which required the formal review of maternal deaths in Mississippi and secured protections for the confidentiality of the process. We created this checklist in collaboration with the committee to empower Black mothers throughout their pregnancy and the postpartum period.
