Research shows that Black women are not listened to in the healthcare system, which is a form of systemic racism that contributes to the high rates of maternal illness and death.
We encourage Black families to advocate for themselves and their loved ones. One way to do this for Black mothers is by having a birth plan. Save this birth plan and send it to the Black women in your network as an advocacy tool during the pregnancy, labor and delivery, and postpartum periods.
