MATERNAL HEALTH INITIATIVES

As a Black woman-owned public health agency that understands the intricate complexities of the Black woman’s role in society, we are committed to doing our part to address the vast inequities that exist for Black women. Our commitment to maternal health derives from the grim statistics that show Black women to be the least valued human being in society. Our aim is to address the systems of inequity while empowering and supporting Black women in claiming autonomy for their bodies and their lives. Our maternal health services span a variety of strategies and practices, many of which are internally developed.

Here are a few of the projects we have developed and/or collaborate on:

In 2019,we produced a short documentary about maternal mortality in Black women. Through this film we aim to 1) increase awareness; 2) engage in research to better address the problem; 3) advocate for change; and 4) create training and curricula for healthcare and public health professionals to better care for Black mothers.
