Six Core Principles

OUR COMMIMENT

Six Dimensions is Black woman-owned and operated business that has a primary focus on ensuring that minority communities, specifically Black communities, have access to the necessary services and resources to achieve optimal health. In working toward this goal, we specifically focus on health equity and social justice issues. We are a Mississippi based business; therefore, we are not just familiar with the plight of the Black community, but we live and experience the racial injustices in our professional and personal lives.

Since 1619, Black people have fought for basic liberties that are afforded to the majority. The historical trauma that enslaved Africans endured continues to have a generational impact and has permeated every system that operates the United States. This generational impact is realized by the oppressed and the oppressor. For the Black community, seeking and receiving quality, unbiased healthcare is a daunting task that is laden with mistrust and inequitable access to services and resources that are necessary to healthy decision making and healthy living. For systems of oppression and the structure of white supremacy, racism is embedded and interwoven into the fabric of this country. Therefore, racism is often implicit, but it is sometimes explicit as well. We recognize this and aim to address it through our work.

Six Dimensions is committed to holding oppressive systems accountable. We are dedicated to supporting communities in navigating existing systems. We are committed to creating new systems that are equitable. We are dedicated to anti racism practices in our organizational work, in our personal lives, and through our partnerships and collaborations. Our commitment is realized through our six core principles, which are rooted in our organizational values, vision, and hope for the future of our communities.

    Health Equity
  • Communities’ needs are often a reflection of systems and corresponding societal factors that either impede or support access to services and resources necessary for healthy living and decision making. We are committed to holding systems accountable for their role in health inequities. We are also committed to creating and supporting health equity in our internal systems and practices and external community-based work. Health equity is the driving force of our work and we strive to support communities in their quest toward health equity.

    Cultural Humility
  • We are dedicated to providing services that are designed with respect to and awareness of all communities and the historical realities associated with culture. We are also committed to continuous internal growth and examination to better serve our partners and clients.

    Community Involvement
    • Supporting healthier communities will ultimately result in a healthier nation and world. We are committed to being in and of the community while also remaining committed to serving as an advocate for the community. We understand that in order for any public health strategy to work, buy-in from the community is necessary, we are committed to ensuring that the community is represented in all of our work.

    Innovation
  • Public health is constantly evolving, in order for us to support healthy communities, it is imperative that we remain committed to providing innovative solutions to respond to the needs of our partners and clients. As a private company, we value our creative freedom and ability to provide innovative solutions for communities and our partners.

    Integrity
  • Our primary goal is to support healthier communities, therefore, it is essential that services be provided with integrity, morality, and in alignment with the mission and vision of the client. Trust from our clients and their respective communities is deeply rooted in our values; therefore, we take great care in ensuring that our practices are rooted in trust and integrity.

    Accountability
  • We are dedicated to providing quality services through consistency and dependability. We are committed to providing services that are community specific and outcomes oriented. We are committed to open, clear and consistent communication that not only holds ourĀ  partners and clients accountable to their projected outcomes, but also keeps us accountable to the community.
